Abstract
The talk focuses on the exercise of argumentation, which is a hallmark of scholarly work. In the dissertation or journal article, one is expected to make an argument/s. But what’s an argument? We often take it for granted that every student or other scholarly writer knows what an argument is. However, argumentation is an art with rules and standards. There is good and bad argumentation. How do we ensure that our arguments are good/strong? The talk aims to provide some insights and skills that are hoped to improve our scholarly prowess, especially in lieu of making proper use of our evidence to make claims.
